What is HOWL

Dedicated to the conservation and stewardship of the land, HOWL (Huntington Open Women's Land) is situated on 50 beautiful acres in the heart of the Green Mountains of Vermont. It was founded in 1986, the feminist vision of a group of womyn who created a women's land trust that would provide women safe access to the healing energy that comes from the earth.

For more information, email howlvt@gmail.com or call us at (802) 434-3953. Interested in visiting HOWL? Click here for our visitors' guidelines. Think you might want to live here? Click here for our resident selection process.

Our Mission

HOWL is held in perpetuity for all women, is a non-profit organization guided by a collective and welcomes residents and visitors who strive to form an intentional community on the land. Our goal is to preserve and steward the land and collaborate in developing projects and programming, open to a diversity of women, that reflect our shared values of compassion, respect, stewardship, environmental sustainability, and love of the earth.

HOWL defines Intentional Community as a group of women with a shared set of values who are involved in furthering the HOWL mission by working together collaboratively, non-violent in words and actions.
